All That…

You know I have been blogging out the way I feel the last couple of blogs…which has been very very good. Hoping that I would almost be done with that, but alas no such luck at least not yet.
So if you would indulge me once again I would like to go on my weekly cleansing of my soul. This time is will be more spiritual then the last. I am just so tired of feeling like that I have to apologize for being a democrat. That I have to be sorry for believing that I am more than my gender and better than what others think of me. I do not need someone telling me that if I don’t read the bible on a daily basis that I am not in touch with God…they don’t know how I talk to God.
To me God is more than just someone up in heaven…He is all around. God to me is the trees, the grass, the leaves, my dogs, my kids laughing…God is all that to me and so much more. I don’t need to read a book to know that I am loved; I get that every day from all of the great creatures that He created. From my family, from my puppies, from the air that I breathe God is all around me.
But when I do wish to do something to give back to all that has been given to me all I am met with is condensation. I want to help and show others that God can be a great thing…but when you get told that what you do is not consider “spiritual” then why bother…when you say you can help they say…we will keep that in mind. You know what I don’t care anymore.
I will do what I can on my end to show the people I know and don’t know the kind of God that I see each and every day. The one who brought me my hubby, my kids and all the wonderful puppies, kitties and all the animals that I have had, to me that is God.
God is not something or someone to be put in a book or a box. God is the universe the stars, the clouds the air, the rain the snow the heat, He is all that and more. I know I shouldn’t be angry or upset about how it is in the church world. It just makes me sad that it has gone that way. The way of being and thinking only our way is the right way. I don’t even think they would know who Jesus was if He walked into a church today. He probably would be asked to leave. Not dressed the right way, hair to long, sorry no sandals here.
I would love to sit and talk to Jesus and just say thank you for the beautiful world you let me keep safe for you. If that makes people mad and that makes me a liberal outcast than I will be All That…and MORE!!!

People pretty much don’t surprise me anymore, most of the time they don’t seem to surprise themselves. I look around and see that most people are walking in a state of fog. They are too, busy isn’t the word, but busy is the word I will use. Why? Because people are too busy to see anyone else or anything else around them.
They have to be. Times are hard and no one is caring for the next person out there. They are and have to look out for themselves and their family. People have turned into the walking dead. They are dead inside. Feeling has left their body, had to in order to survive. Caring and sharing with people just cause more pain. No one sticks around anymore.
It is hard to imagine living in a world where no one cares. Hard to imagine living in a world where it takes all you have just to smile when your little one comes in for what is suppose to be breakfast. You try and try to lift yourself up, but when there is no one there to even share a hello with some days it seems like a dead end.
As I write this I am struck by how dark it seems and how hopeless it is. It is dark out there in the world and at some point hopeless too. But I have to believe that there is someone out there who is willing to help me make another person smile. MY life may totally suck, but that is no reason for me to stop being someone who cares. Stop being someone willing to put their hand out to someone who is reaching out for me.
I don’t claim to have the answers to their questions, but I am willing to listen to what they want to say. I am willing to show them something that maybe they haven’t seen in a while. A friend, that is what most of us want in this time of uncertainty. Someone who will stand with us, beside us and be there for us. That is the big thing that is missing today. In this time and in this place. Everyone is reading the same sign and walking away. I am willing to take that sign down and stay.
So please allow me to introduce myself and say sit down and stay awhile, if you have any questions or want to talk I am here.
Throw the sign away and smile at the next person that walks, looks or peeks your way see what happens. Don’t let darkness cloud your eyes, let the sun light your way. Get close to someone today let that be your sign…
If you can read this…you aren’t close enough!

Polar BearThere are so many things as Christians we can do to spread the news of Jesus Christ. From helping the homeless to helping a missionary go to China. But there is one BIG way we haven’t even begun to use and that resource is the one that is slowly being taken away from all of us.

We are not environmentally conscious Christians. I mean isn’t this the home God gave us to live in till we went to be with him?

“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it; for He has founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.”
Psalm 24:1-2

A year or two ago the news was reporting that the Polar Bears will be listed as Threatened, because the ice they use to hunt on is melting and they are having to swim father between ice-plates to hunt, causing them to drown. Not to mention starve, there main source of food is harder to hunt when the ice melts.

“I am the Lord, who made all things, who stretched out the heavens alone, who spread out the earth.”
Isaiah 44:24

Sometimes I think it is easier on us Christians to just work on the things we can really see a change in. We work on people and things that we get immediate gratification from. I know that I am guilty of this. If we feed and clothe the homeless then they are not hungry or cold, if we sponsor a missionary then we know the word of God will be spread to a new person in a far off country. We teach our children all these things as well. Now I am not saying those are bad, but what if we taught our children not only those things, but that taking care of the home that God is letting us “rent” till we can go home to Him is just as important. If we teach them it is important to care not only for one and another, but care for the place you live. Isn’t that spreading God’s word?

“Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.”
Proverbs 22:6

I will be the first to admit that I have not taken care of my “rented” home the way I should. Plus I have not given my children any reason to do any different than me. But I will say this; I want to make this a better place for my children and for their children. I don’t think God wants us to let our children inherit a “home” they can’t enjoy.

“Humans are the only species able to go everywhere in the world, which also means that we have the capacity to do good or ill everywhere.”—Roger Rosenblatt

So my question would be, “How can we call our self Christians and speak about God, if we can’t even take care of the home He gave us to use?” Even if all we do is keep our little part of the world clean and teach our children to do the same. That alone can speak volumes to people. You show you care about the world and if they ask why, tell them…

“I am just “renting” this place till I go home.”

“The hardest case to make for acting on an environmental conscience is that it is the right thing to do. Yet, in the end, it may be the only case worth making. If we do not respect nature, we do not respect ourselves.”—Roger Rosenblatt

I wrote that back in January when I was challenged not only from the news on TV, but from the church I was attending. There was a time when my whole family was environmentally conscious. We recycled; we only bought recycled and environmentally sound things etc. Somehow we just stopped. Then one day when my daughter was 9 she asked me why we don’t recycle anymore. She remembered. I had no answer. It was a couple of days later was when the news of the polar bears came out and she asked me again why don’t we recycle?

Well to make a long story short, we now are back to recycling, trying to buy less bulky items, no more bottles water, we put a filter on our tap and bought a filtering water pitcher to put in the fridge for cold water. We are back to buying environmentally items to clean our house, and buying more organic items to eat. Supporting our local growers.

We still aren’t perfect, we are like the lady said in the audience, we are mint green. But we are getting a darker green every day.
